An insulation estimate that starts with the plans.

Define the design assumptions early, while changes are still easier to coordinate.

In this guide
  1. Send the current revision
  2. Make the scope explicit
  3. Coordinate installation and occupancy

Send the current revision

Include floor plans, elevations, sections and the relevant enclosure details. Add the project ZIP code, building use, number of units and the anticipated installation window. Identify the drawing revision so everyone estimates the same design.

Make the scope explicit

Mark which walls, roofs, floors and transitions need pricing. Ask for product documentation, thickness or performance assumptions, preparation and required protection. Separate alternatives clearly instead of combining different assemblies into one total.

Coordinate installation and occupancy

Discuss trade completion, inspections, access and the manufacturer’s installation conditions. Request a ventilation and re-occupancy plan specific to the product and site. A generic “safe after a fixed number of hours” statement is not a substitute for those instructions.

Technical background: EPA archive — Spray foam safety and re-occupancy. Sources checked October 20, 2026. General planning information; the project professional must verify product instructions and applicable local requirements.
